What a fabulous weekend we had at our CVRC camp in July 2024 at St Leonards Equestrian Centre. Despite arriving and setting up camp in torrential rain, the sun came out and stayed for the duration.
With two lessons each day, we all learned so much from our wonderful instructors, Becky Kennen and Jane Lavington – from flatwork in the arena and show jumping training in the field to excitement out on the cross country course, their support was just fantastic. Our horses and riders had just the best time, everyone achieving so much more together that they’d hoped.
In addition to the hours of riding, mucking out, hand grazing and simply just being there together with our much-loved equine partners, we made use of the super swimming pool on site, stretched out during an eventful Pilates session and enjoyed feasting together, including our infamous Camel Valley Cocktails, shared BBQ and full English breakfast.
It was especially lovely to reunite Mum Gwen with her foal Sparkle at camp, both having a great time with their respective humans (with Sparkle’s foal also now with a CVRC member, in readiness for future adventures)!
Massive thanks to our chair Janet for securing us such a wonderful venue during a challenging year for club camps and to everyone for coming along. It was a fantastic group of people and horses to spend the weekend with and roll on next year!
