CVRC members had a very successful couple of days at the BRC Area 19 Winter Dressage Qualifiers at Duchy College.

Running over two days, 1st and 2nd November, we were once again well prepared for the qualifiers thanks to the brilliant extra training sessions with Jane Lavington and Becky Kennen, generously paid for by the club. Jane and Becky also put together the teams, matching horse and rider to the dressage test/s most suited to them, and then rejigged it all when two members sadly had to withdraw due to (temporarily) poorly ponies.

Not only did our teams come 1st and 4th but individually our members secured 2 firsts, 2 seconds, a fourth, a fifth and other creditable placings demonstrating the huge improvements everyone is making. The standards are becoming higher and higher each year at these qualifiers, so a massive well done to those members who put their training into practice and competed so brilliantly.

Camel Valley had no less than 8 members competing on the day, achieving some impressive scores despite the inclement weather at times!  It was, as always, a friendly, well-run event in a super venue.

It was especially lovely to have Becky not just there encouraging us all but competing again herself. Not only that but she WON the Medium 2 Class riding Jane Lavington’s Anablaha Bertie (Boston) and then secured 4th in the Equitech Dressage to Music Medium  – congratulations Becky!

Our Intermediate Team (CVRC Cider Drinkers) also secured an impressive WIN and many congratulations to Nikki Cartwright riding Mandy, Celena Wolfe on Obaldy, Janet Elston on Treswarrow Legacy and Kathy Baillie on Cortez.

This means Becky and the CVRC Cider Drinkers have qualified for the nationals which take place at Arena UK, Grantham in April 2026.

Our CVRC Intermediate Team (CVRC Cornish Pasties) came 4th of 8 teams in total and congratulations to Donna Rowe riding Harlyn Esta, Sally Rowe on Trevadlock Georgies Legacy, Helen Lentern on Polgrain Diamond and Jane Stevens on Larry the Leprechaun.

A big thanks to everyone who represented the club and also to those members who came and supported each day, particularly Sally Keat and Cheryl Richards. Our club members are hugely supportive of one-another – one of the things that makes this club so special.

That was evident when we came together on 6th November at St Breward Village to not only celebrate our success at the qualifiers but to hear from the very knowledgeable Stephanie Jones of Top Spec talk about equine feed and nutrition. As well as her informative talk, we all enjoyed pizza, salad and delicious homemade cakes – big thanks to Sally Rowe for organising all this for us.
