On Thursday, March 18, the Camel Valley Riding Club held its first Annual General Meeting on Zoom. There were 16 members present, including the club's officers. The usual AGM format was followed, with re-election of officers etc. For those who couldn't attend, we thought we would share chairman Janet Elston's AGM report:

Janet began the Chair’s report by thanking the committee for their continued hard work. She then introduced each committee member by name and explained their role within the Club.

The following points were then made:

  • It was noted that the last year had been an unprecedented year due to Covid-19 and the associated restrictions.
  • During the previous season 2019/20 the club was represented in most of the Area Qualifiers including the Autumn Dressage Qualifiers.
  • CVRC ran an online dressage competition in spring 2020 which was well supported. It had been too difficult to organise a similar competition during the 2021 lockdown due to government restrictions on the travelling of horses and hiring of schools/arenas.
  • Carina Kane, Becky Kennen, Sian Harris and Jess Holman all qualified for the 2019 Championships at Hartpury for both show jumping and dressage. Sian Harris came 3rd in the show jumping.
  • Lisanne Mules won the Combined Training Qualifier but sadly the Championship was cancelled and as yet has not been rescheduled.
  • The last spring camp held at Chyverton in 2019 was a success. Sadly the last camp had to be cancelled due to Covid-19.
  • Training has been very popular and has run whenever possible. Janet thanked Carina Kane and Becky Kennen.
  • The club held a social evening in 2020 at St Mabyn Inn which was a huge success. It is hoped to be able to organise another once restrictions are lifted.
  • The Fun Ride 2020 was a massive success with over 300 riders across the two days. The proceeds were shared between Camel Valley and Four Burrow Hunt. Janet said a huge thank you to Jo Bryant and Rundle Weldhen for allowing Camel Valley to use their land.
  • An important development this year is the rebuilding and launching of a new website for the Club. The committee agreed that it is an important tool in the running of the Club and as a means of communication for members and future members. It is hoped that members will be able to book and pay for training via the website which is due to be launched in a few weeks. Janet thanked Gillian Molesworth for all her hard work creating the content and layout of the site.

If any members would like a full record of the AGM, they are welcome to request a copy of the minutes by emailing the club on
