Several CVRC riders represented the club at the British Riding Clubs Area 19 showjumping qualifiers on June 20, both as a team organised by teams captain Sian Harris, and as individual competitors. The event was held at Chyverton, and although rain was forecast, the sun shone: a little too much for comfort at times! It was a fun, well organised day and we jumped on grass.
Riding in the CVRC team in the 80cm were Debbie Bull on Beau, Helen Mcmillan on Ocean, Jess Holman on Millie, and Gillian Molesworth on Jeeta. We all had some family and friends along to support, and our trainer Becky Kennen was there the whole day to help everyone warm up, settle nerves, and offer advice.
The team had mixed results. Jess had one pole down in the first round, but went on to jump a lovely brisk clear round in the second. Gillian had two clear rounds, and ended up placing fourth individually, a great result for this mum borrowing her daughter's horse! Debbie had an unlucky fall at fence seven in the first round, and had to end her day at Treliske with an ankle injury. Helen also retired early, with Ocean not feeling right.
Individual riders from CVRC included Heidi Robinson on Lily who jumped beautifully and placed eighth in the 70cm and Poppy Styles on Barney who placed second in the 90cm! Fab results girls, congratulations!
Well done to all the riders and we are all glad that Debbie has recovered from her injury.
