by teams captain Sian Harris
An 80cm team (Celena Wolfe, Sian Harris, Jess Holman and Debbie Bull) and a 100cm individual (Poppy Stiles) ventured to Bicton arena on Saturday, November 13 for the British Riding Clubs Area 19 Arena Eventing qualifier.
Celena was the pathfinder for the team on Dude who had an unlucky refusal at the second cross country fence in the course, but went over sweetly on the second attempt for a score of 20.8. Jess was next on Millie who did a foot perfect round even if it was very speedy for four time penalties.
Next up was Debbie on Beau who did a lovely round and was just unlucky to have the joker fence down at the end for 6 penalties. The joker was an upright plank which was 10cm higher than the rest of the course.
Last up was Sian on Quinn who started off fairly sticky over the showjumping part of the course but as soon as they started the cross country they flew around clear and just had 0.4 time penalties.
This meant the team finished on a fantastic score of 10.4 for second place out of eight teams.
The individual results were as follows; Sian & Quinn - 7th Jess & Millie - 13th Debbie & Beau - 18th Celena & Dude - 29th.
Poppy was the brave individual to enter the 100cm on Barney. She did a fantastic round but unfortunately had the joker fence down for 6 penalties and 6 time faults. Still a fantastic eighth place over a very tough course, well done.
Thank you to Caroline Chenery for volunteering on behalf on CVRC. We really appreciate your help.
A great day all round!
